"And the he-goat grew tremendously, and when it was at its strongest, the great horn was broken, and an appearance of four arose instead to the four directions of the sky."

"And the he-goat grew tremendously" -The kingdom of Yavan expanded its rule over the entire world.

"When it was at its strongest" - Alexander died at a young age while still at the height of his power.

"From one of them emerged one small horn, and it grew greatly towards the south and towards the east, and towards the deer."

"One small horn" -This is Antiochus the rasha.

"It grew greatly towards the south" - Antiochus fought with the king of Mitzrayim, and seized his land.

"East" - This is Paras.

"The deer" - This is Eretz Yisrael."

"And it grew until the host of Heaven, and it threw to the ground from the host and from the stars, and it trampled them. And it grew until the officer of the army, and through it, the daily sacrifice was lifted, and the foundation of His mikdash was thrown down."

"And it grew until the host of Heaven" -This is referring to Bnei Yisrael, since they are the host of Shamayim. Antiochus tried to cause Bnei Yisrael to transgress the Torah, unlike any of the previous kings before him.

"And it threw some of the host to the earth" Antiochus tried to throw Bnei Yisrael from the shamayim to the eretz; his goal was that Klal Yisroel would no longer be a holy nation, but would be like all the other nations which serve avodah zara.

"And from the stars and trampled them." This refers to the kohanim and the tzaddikim whom the Yevanim killed.

"It grew until the officer of the army, and through it the daily sacrifice will be raised " - All this will continue until the "officer of the army" will arise, which is Matisyahu Hokehen and his sons, the Macaabim. They will reinstate the daily sacrifice which had been abolished by Antiochus.

"And the foundation of His mikdash was thrown down"

According to the Malbim, these words begin a new vision. Daniel heard in a vision that after the tamid will be reinstated, and the mikdash will be restored at the time of the Chashmanoim, the tamid will again be abolished, and the Beis Hamikdash thrown down by the Romans at the time of the Churban. According to Rashi, the entire possuk is referring to the Roman era.

"And the host will be given with the tamid because of sin, and truth will be thrown to the ground, and it will take action and succeed."

"And the host will be given with the tamid because of sin" - Daniel heard in the vision that the host (of Heaven) which is Yisrael, will be given in the hands of the enemy along with the tamid due to their sins at the time of the second Beis Hamikdash.

"And truth will be thrown to the ground" - The Romans will throw the truth, which is the Torah, to the ground through their evil decrees designed to abolish Bnei Yisrael's religious observance.
