"And those stronger than him will stand up, and he will profane the fortified Mikdash, and the tamid will be removed, and he will set up the silent abomination." "And those stronger than him"- This is referring to Titus, the Roman general, who was stronger than Antiochus.

"And he will profane the fortified Mikdash" - In the days of Antiochus, the Beis Hamikdash was not yet "fortified." When Herod rebuilt the Beis Hamikdash, he built it resembling a fortress.

"And he will set up the silent abomination." -This happened later in the time of Hadrian, who set up an idol on the site of the Beis Hamikdash.

"The wise ones of the people will help the masses to understand, and they will stumble by the sword, and by the flame, in captivity and in looting, for years."

"The wise ones" - The chachamim will help Bnei Yisrael to maintain their emunah.

"They will stumble by the sword." - Many of Bnei Yisrael were killed after the churban.

"When they stumble, they will be aided with a little help, and many will join them in smoothness. And those of the wise ones will stumble to purify them, and to clarify and to purify them until the time of the end, because it is not yet the designated time."

"When they stumble." - This is referring to the days of Bar Kochvah, when many people joined him to throw off the yoke of the Romans, including some of the "wise ones" - such as Rabbi Akiva.

"And to clarify and purify them until the time of the end." - Throughout history, the chachamim and leaders of Bnei Yisrael have been killed, thereby atoning for the sins of Yisrael, and this will continue until the "end." However, "they will be aided with a little help" - Bnei Yisrael will never be destroyed completely.

"The king will do as he wants, and he will exalt and raise himself higher than any god, and about the G-d of G-ds, he will speak wonders. He will succeed until the rage is completed, for that which was determined was done."

The malach is now discussing a different point in history, when the Roman emperor, Constantine I, arose. Constantine abolished avodah zara, and introduced Christianity to his kingdom, spreading the faith of G-d and the tenets of Christianity. Christianity will flourish until Hashem's wrath ceases from His people at the time of Moshiach.

"He will build strong fortresses with the strange god. Whoever will recognize it, he will increase honor, and he will have rule over the masses, and he will divide land at a price."

This is referring to the building of churches and it power over the masses, including the taxes it levied.
