Slandering US & Israeli Soldiers
By Dr. Eugene Narrett - November 15, 2010

Many cultural, moral, economic and strategic principles and events bind America closely to Israel. Each is a nation whose sense of identity is rooted in a founding experience of settlement and a religious commitment expressed in a founding document. The American Constitution in many ways is modeled upon Hebrew Scriptures. America also has been unique in the West for the degree of tolerance it has extended to Jews, a situation perhaps stemming from the strong respect for and knowledge of the Hebrew Bible by the early settlers, and their descendants, who gave America its character.

Now the two nations, specifically the soldiers of the two nations share another bond: each is targeted by internationalist academic 'peaceniks' as being filled with imperialists and rapists.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

It is a premise among the world's major media that Israel is an imperialist power: yet, in an ironic and telling reversal of notion, the core of the "peace process" is the expulsion of Jews from Judea and the rest of the historic heartland of Israel. That is, the nations, fronted by the Quartet impose imperial and racist decrees against Jews while terming Jews as imperialists. Jews moreover are not allowed to live or own property in surrounding nations by their racist fiat about which the "world community" has little or no concern. The matter of a Jew-free Israeli heartland is especially nasty: The ethnic cleansing of Jews for "peace" shows the hypocritical and vicious character of this process and of those professing pacifism and 'social justice.'

To bolster their position, and in a combination of denial and projection, anti-Israel 'scholars' and their media echo chamber accuse Israeli soldiers, whose restraint in the face of Arab violence is startling and perhaps absurd, of ethnic cleansing and rape. When no evidence of rape is found, academics in Israel concoct theories that Israeli soldiers do not rape Arabs because the Israelis are "racists."

Being thrust into such a double-bind is familiar to American conservatives whose support for Israel, for many good reasons, remains high despite major media bias.

The Jews of Israel, not least its settlers and soldiers truly are in a no-win situation. If the settlers join the army and fight for regimes that vilify them, prohibit them from building and sometimes expel them from their homes they are accused of trying to take over the army. If they suggest foregoing re-enlistment or service (as is routine among many left critics of Jewish "occupation" of Judea), they are accused of being hostile to the State and sluggards. In either case, it is their 'intransigence' for wanting to live in their homes that supposedly prompts the jihad ongoing now for fourteen centuries. The motto of the globalist left ought to be "stop making sense."

Jordan occupied and controlled Judea and Samaria from 1948-67: Egypt controlled Gaza during the same period. If they want a "Palestinian state" why didn't they create one or two of them? One, because there is no such state or people, 2) their own pretensions and local hegemony is what they care about most and, 3) their great power enablers don't want an integral Jewish State and see the so-called 'Palestinians' as a useful tool with which to uproot it and keep the Jews forever off balance and on the run.

By a similar irrational animus, if Israelis soldiers don't rape, it's because they are racist. The unifying idea between these absurdities is an old one: blame and expel the Jews.

Now American soldiers have been slandered in the same way. Penelope Blake, a Professor at Rock Valley College, appearing on FOX News exposed an a-historical and vicious anti-American agenda at an NEH-funded conference. Americans were blamed for the attack on Pearl Harbor, for WW II in the Pacific and American soldiers were charged with being rapists. According to Professor Blake, when she confronted one of the participants after a panel and asked for evidence, he insisted that the American military was similar in its behavior to the Japanese in WW II. Americans, especially in the military, were further charged with formulating self-serving propaganda about the War in presenting Americas as liberators and Japanese as imperial tyrants, a simple truth.

Try convincing Philippinos, Chinese, Koreans or others in East Asia that American soldiers behaved like the Japanese during WW II or afterward…

The facts, once fairly well known when history still was taught in American public schools are that during WW II the Japanese army had an ugly record of wholesale and violent rape and pillage and torture of civilian and military prisoners including horrific 'medical experiments.' They used in the fields or exported for use in Japan scores of thousands of "comfort women." This policy was well known. In recent years even Japan has begun to acknowledge this in its own history books.

There is nothing remotely like this in the history of Israeli or American armed forces. The tendency of Academics and a certain political party to deride and vilify American traditions, principles and Americans shows a deeply perverse spirit, ignorance and, in some cases service to those funding the take-down of America, the great bulwark against global collectivism. It is similar with Israel whose founding tenets establish national sovereignty as a distinctive feature of identity and that bars the pretensions of any government to god-like power. "Be on your guard against an autocratic government" warn the sages in Ethics of the Fathers (2:3). This principle also applies to the full body scans now imposed on Americans at airports, treating them like criminals in a police state. The Israeli model for flight security is successful, ready and waiting for use.

In any case, now the American people and military and Israelis, most of whom still serve in what remains a citizens' army have yet another bond in common: not for the first, or even the hundredth time they find themselves castigated and slandered in similar ways by the same kinds of mindless, hate-filled, leftwing groups whose ignorance of history is matched by their notion that "global governance" is a path to peace. These cadres are so militant about "peace" (actually about control of the world by a global oligarchy in the name of "peace" and "cooperation") that an MSNBC host recently ranted about the need for "violent revolution" against what he perceived, characteristically as an alliance of the military and "right wing" forces in America.

Imagine a conservative or Tea Party activist advocating "violent revolution" on TV or radio. The pack of independent minds would be out howling for indictments, lawsuits and loss of the offender's FCC license.

The silver lining to such hypocrisy, slander and subversion of history is that Americans and Israelis, those who still can think, realize that they are targeted by the same kinds of haters and that, truly, they represent what is best and most hopeful in a floundering world.
