Days Of Rain
By Enzo Tayar
Yad Vashem Publications: 2004
Part of the Holocaust Survivors' Memoirs Project
ISBN: 978-0976073901

Book Description:

The tranquility of Enzo Tayar's Florence boyhood was replaced by fear and uncertainty as Italy instituted increasingly severe anti-Jewish measures and the Germans invaded their former ally. Drawing on the dairy he kept for the pivotal year 1943, Tayar recounts the impact of these events on his friends and family. For safety, he fled Florence separately from his sister and parents, taking refuge on a succession of farms throughout Tuscany. They were not reunited until after the Allied conquest of Italy. After liberation, Tayar served as a U.S. Army interpreter, taking part in the interrogation of Fascists as a prelude to postwar prosecutions.
