The Weinberg Foundation large type edition of the Artscroll Weekday Siddur, along with its companion volume, the Weinberg Foundation large type edition of the Artscroll Sabbath and Festivals Siddur are an outstanding addition to the collection of large print prayer books that have been published by Artscroll / Mesorah Publications. Weinberg Foundation large type edition of the Artscroll Weekday Siddur was especially designed for use by Jewish readers who are visually impaired. Rather than simply enlarge the text of an existing prayer book, the Mesorah publishers took the extra step to have the Siddur restructured and newly typeset in order to create a complete weekday Siddur, but one that was not bulky or excessively heavy.
In creating this large type edition, the publishers created an excellent Hebrew - English weekday Siddur that is ideal for use both at home and in Shul. It follows the Nusach Ashkenaz order of prayers. The text is presented with vowelized Hebrew text, interspersed with clear instruction in English. The Hebrew text is matched with facing English translation. This Siddur also includes abbreviated commentaries on the prayers that helps to elucidate their meanings and which offer addition instruction and guidance when appropriate.
The Weinberg Foundation large type edition of the Artscroll Weekday Siddur has pages that measure 7" x 10", and the entire volume weighs slightly less than three pounds. Best of all, the text is well laid out to suit the needs of the visually impaired. The text is printed in crisp, black lettering. Throughout, the words are well spaced for ease of reading, and subject headers, titles, and other important navigational markers are printed in bold lettering. The book is right opening.
ArtScroll Mesorah Series of prayer books has a well-earned reputation for excellence. Containing the traditional text of an 'orthodox' weekday Siddur, the Weinberg Foundation large type edition of the Artscroll Weekday Siddur will serve the needs of visually impaired members of the Jewish Community, as well as those who simply prefer the readability of large print texts.
